Dairy Goat Co-operative is a manufacturer, developer and exporter of premium, niche consumer packaged nutritional powders. It is one of the region's leading exporters, serving international markets via its marketing partners and joint venture relationships. The markets are located primarily in Asia, and also Europe, the Americas and Oceania.

Purpose of the job:
This role is responsible for the day to day farm management, farm performance, milk production targets, staff management (including staff rosters, payroll information, milk quality, training, staff safety and performance), animal welfare, repairs and maintenance and site appearance and to manage the operation of the DGC Pilot farm. While the farm will start operating on 1 June, we will need the successful applicant to start as soon as possible in the new year. Our pilot farm will allow us to conduct on-farm research within a real farm environment ensuring that robust research protocols are followed.

Day to day responsibilities:

• Supporting DGC's farm research strategy and implementation of plans.
• Ensuring farm operations are geared for optimal animal welfare.
• Responsible for maintaining high standards of goat health, welfare and care.
• Managing all aspects of day to day farming operations.
• Maintaining a strong relationship with the farm science team.
• Overseeing all business management activities relating to the farm.
• Leading a small team to accomplish farm objectives.

Our ideal candidate will have:

• previous farm management or 2IC experience on a dairy goat farm
• previous sole charge experience and have successfully lead a team
• agricultural qualification or equivalent work experience would be an advantage
• an understanding of research principles in a farming context
• excellent communication skills, both written and oral
